Here at CVAS we believe in simplifying our payment process so you can focus on what is most important:
Your Vocal Goals!
Rather than use the traditional pay per lesson model, we offer a studio membership along with the option for auto pay for both Private Lessons and Coaching so you can spend less time budgeting and more time singing and performing.
If you’re naturally curious like me, you may want to know a little bit more about how your studio membership is working for you.
Lets dive in shall we!
What does my studio membership cover?
The obvious answer is time spent in a lesson or coaching session working with you individually.
However there is a lot more going on behind the scenes for which your studio membership is working hard for you.
Lesson and Coaching Prep
All great teachers do more than just show up for your scheduled time, throw some exercises and rep at you, and then call it a day. Each week I spend time reviewing the previous session, your vocal goals, current and future rep, and create a plan for your next session.
Curriculum Development
Developing fully rounded singers requires resources, whether it’s worksheets, vocal exercises, video tutorials, or games, singers need material they can work through to develop their skills. Unlike private piano instruction where there are multiple published lesson books designed for teaching theory, sight-reading, improvisation, there are few to no options (depending on the skill) for private voice instruction. Therefore a large portion of my time outside of lessons is spent searching for or creating these resources for my students.
Administrative Tasks
As with any educational institution, there are daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly administrative tasks that must be attended to. Whether it is creating the studio calendar, sending invoices, scheduling lessons, updating the website and social media, or ordering new music, there is a long list of tasks that need to be complete to keep the studio running smoothly.
Training and Experience
With both a BM in voice and a MSE in education as well as certificates in all three levels of Somatic Voicework™ I invest heavily in my education so you can rest assured as you invest in yours.
Continuing Education
Great voice teachers continue to invest in their own education as well as yours. From conferences, to workshops, to my own private lessons (yes your teacher has a teacher) I am always seeking out ways to continue to grow as a teacher and singer.
Professional Organizations and Journals
All great teachers learn and grow best by working together with others in our field. The easiest way to connect is to belong to organizations that bring us together and provide additional resources such as workshops and journals. I am currently an active Member of NATS and the Somatic Voicework™ Teachers Association, and have my eye on a few more organizations I would like to become involved with in 2021. I’ll keep you posted!
Studio Expenses
From maintaining my piano, keeping up with the latest tech, studio challenge prizes, online scheduling and payment software, and a myriad of other little things that keep CVAS running smoothly your studio membership is hard at work.
Recital Costs and Preparations
While we are currently only able to hold virtual recitals at the moment, planning, preparing the program, setting up our private Facebook group, and sending out invitations all takes time. And once we are able to meet in person again, there will be the additional cost of facility rental, refreshments, and printed programs!
Insurance and Business licenses
These are no fun to talk about but they are an important part of any music business. A portion of your membership helps make sure CVAS is in compliance legally with our State and Federal Governments.
And there you have it! A little sneak behind the curtain of how your Studio Membership is hard at work helping you achieve your vocal goals and dreams.
